Australian snowboarder Josie Baff achieved a historic milestone at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics by winning gold in the women’s snowboard cross event, securing Australia’s first Olympic medal in this competitive discipline. At just 23 years old, Baff has rapidly risen through the ranks from a promising Youth Olympic champion in 2020 to a dominant force on the world stage.
Born in Cooma, New South Wales, Josie Baff first captured international attention when she earned gold in snowboard cross at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics in Lausanne, Switzerland. This early success laid the foundation for her professional career, which officially began in the 2021’2 FIS Snowboard World Cup season where she secured her maiden victory in Les Deux Alpes, France.
At the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Baff represented Australia with promising results, finishing 18th in the individual snowboard cross and 13th in the mixed team event alongside Adam Lambert. Demonstrating exceptional progress over the following four years, she came into the 2026 Games as a top contender, ranked second in the season’s World Cup standings.
In the fiercely contested 2026 final held in Italy, Baff held off strong challenges from rivals such as Eva Adamczykova of Czechia and Italy22222222222222E2222222222222222Italy2222222222222E222222222222222222222222E222222222222222222222222222222222E22222222222222222222222222222E222222222222222222222222222222222E22222222222222222222222222222E222222222222222222222222222222222
